Brodi-Jo Scalise grew up in the small town of Hope, BC, where an early crash course in horror - watching VHS copies of THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, SCREAM, and THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE at the impressionable age of 8 one Sunday morning - sparked a lifelong love of bold, boundary-pushing genre storytelling. This led him to Vancouver, where he attended Capilano University’s Motion Picture Arts program and began honing his craft.
In 2020, he wrote and directed ITSY BITSY SPIDER, a horror short filmed with live tarantulas (eek!). The film was acquired by CBC and ALTER, screened internationally at various film festivals, and earned awards including Best Short Cinematography (LEO Awards 2021) and Best Score (Chilliwack Independent Film Fest 2021). His latest short FAMILY DESCENT - a horror/comedy about the pressures to continue the family bloodline - has recently begun its festival circuit.
Brodi is currently financing his feature debut, SON OF A BITCH, a dark comedy about a bitter high school teacher obsessed with settling old scores.
He continues to focus on personal, subversive stories told through a genre lens.
